ABOUT

The objective of this course is to provide students with in depth knowledge of the problems of international crime and terrorism in the era of globalization, as well as the political science research and writing skills needed to produce high quality situation and policy analysis regarding these topics. Students will gain an understanding of the historical development of major international criminal and terrorist operations, the factors that have contributed to the proliferation of transnational crime and terrorism, the types of crimes that pose the greatest threat to lawful societies, and the extent to which transnational crime and terrorism threaten the national security interests of the United States and the world community.  The instructor for this course is Dr. David A. Shirk, associate professor of political science and international relations in the Department of Political Science at the University of San Diego.

This course was last taught in the Spring semester of 2015. It is scheduled to be taught in the Spring semester of 2016.
